Hello readers,

As 2013 quickly comes to an end, many people take stock of the blessings they have in life.  QuickLogic is no different.   As with many companies, we sponsor a number of charitable initiatives for employees.  This year, QuickLogic named three charities for our internal giving campaigns, the Second Harvest Food Bank, the San Jose Animal Care Center, and the ‘Adopt-an-Angel’ program.  Some details..

* The Second Harvest Food Bank is a San Jose-based food bank serving the counties around QuickLogic.  While he is quite shy about saying it, our CEO Andy Pease has donated more than 1 million (yes, that’s 1,000,000) pounds of food and food equivalents to the Food Bank through his Severns-Pease foundation.  This year, QuickLogic employees donated >5 large barrels of food, enough to keep a needy family well-fed for months.

* The San Jose Animal Care Center is a local animal shelter serving the surrounding areas around QuickLogic.  A ‘pet’ (sorry) project of mine, the Animal Care Center is the largest on the West Coast of the United States, and at any time fostering more than 500 animals, all hoping for just one lucky family to take them home.   As a volunteer (and as the proud parent of two rescue dogs) at the Center, I can attest to the sheer goodness of the people who work and volunteer there.  QuickLogic employees stepped up this year for our furry friends, donating 2 giant car loads of bedding, food, toys and treats.   While nothing beats a home for the holidays, a new warm bed and a toy to play with makes the animal’s day so much better.

and last, but not least…

* The Adopt-an-Angel program serves low-income and needy children in the Sunnyvale area.  A child who may go without lists a gift that they’d like for the holidays, and their ‘secret santa’ purchases the item and returns it for wrapping.  QuickLogic employees again served every single child on our tree this year, providing gifts for more than 40 children who otherwise may not get one.

QuickLogic may not be a large company in terms of people, but we make up for it in having the hearts of a much larger group.  My thanks to all my fellow employees for continuing our tradition of giving.
